Who are we?


We are the BME Traffic Lab at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Fac. of Transportation Eng. and Vehicle Eng., Dept. of Control for Transportation and Vehicle Systems. Our main scope includes control, modeling, and simulation. We work on future solutions for CCAM and CAVs with state-of-the-art technology exploiting simulation tools (e.g. Vissim/Visum, SUMO, OMNeT++, CARLA). Our activity covers research, innovation, and education related to automated vehicles and mobility.


Scientific Research and Development


We research and develop future solutions with a special focus on CCAM and CAVs. We utilize state-of-the-art technologies such as Mixed-reality, Co-simulation, Digital Twin, Classical Control, or Artificial Intelligence. We are familiar with many industrial-level simulation tools and confident in developing our own simulation tools and software solutions. We love to dive into challenging scientific research problems related to mobility.

Scientific and Industrial Projects


While being affiliated with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics we are ready to work together with industrial partners and other research institutes. We have made several contributions to both national and EU-level projects and work together with many leading industrial partners. If you have ideas to collaborate, don't hesitate to contact us!

Education (BSc, MSc, and PhD)


We take part in all levels of education at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. We are involved in several study programmes and give lectures in the field of traffic control, modeling, and simulation as well as classical control: Road Traffic Control I-II. (BSc); Control (BSc); Modelling and control of vehicles and traffic systems (MSc); Engineering of transport automation systems (MSc); Control Theory (MSc); Smart city (MSc); Traffic modelling, simulation and control (MSc/PhD); Research Techniques (PhD).

Publications and GitHub


Since we are part of academia, we are strongly focused on scientific research. We publish our results mainly in high-impact journal papers. Our scientific research both builds on and complements our industrial projects, bridging the gap between industry and academia. Beside the journal/conference papers, we also put emphasis on technical manuals and open-source code sharing: github.com/bmetrafficlab
